Lord Advocate
The Lord Advocate is the chief legal officer of Scotland and represents the Crown in legal matters. This position is responsible for overseeing the prosecution of criminal cases and providing legal advice to the Scottish Government. The Lord Advocate also plays a key role in the development of public policy and legislation.
In addition to criminal prosecution, the Lord Advocate has a significant role in civil law cases and can appear in various courts, including the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. The Lord Advocate is appointed by the First Minister of Scotland and is a member of the Scottish Cabinet.
