Long-Acting Beta Agonists
Long-Acting Beta Agonists (LABAs) are medications used primarily to treat respiratory conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They work by relaxing the muscles around the airways, making it easier to breathe. LABAs are typically used in combination with inhaled corticosteroids for better control of symptoms.
These medications have a prolonged effect, lasting up to 12 hours or more, which allows for less frequent dosing compared to short-acting beta agonists. LABAs are not intended for immediate relief of asthma attacks but are used for long-term management of breathing difficulties.
