Liu Hui
Liu Hui was a prominent Chinese mathematician who lived during the third century CE. He is best known for his work on geometry and his contributions to the field of mathematics, particularly in the area of calculating the area of circles. Liu Hui's most famous work, the Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art, includes methods for solving various mathematical problems and is considered a significant text in ancient Chinese mathematics.
In addition to his work on geometry, Liu Hui also made advancements in numerical methods and algorithms. He introduced techniques for approximating the value of pi and developed methods for solving linear equations. His influence on mathematics extended beyond his lifetime, impacting later scholars and mathematicians in China and beyond.
