Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic
The Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic was a short-lived state that existed from 1940 to 1941 and again from 1944 to 1990. It was established after the Soviet Union occupied Lithuania during World War II. As a part of the Soviet Union, it was governed by the Communist Party and underwent significant political and economic changes, including collectivization and industrialization.
In 1990, Lithuania declared independence from the Soviet Union, leading to the dissolution of the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic. This move was part of a broader wave of independence movements across the former Soviet republics, ultimately contributing to the end of the Soviet Union in 1991.
