Lithuanian Americans
Lithuanian Americans are individuals of Lithuanian descent who live in the United States. The largest wave of immigration occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, primarily due to economic hardship and political oppression in Lithuania. Many settled in industrial cities, contributing to the workforce and establishing vibrant communities.
Today, Lithuanian Americans maintain their cultural heritage through festivals, language schools, and organizations. They celebrate traditions such as Užgavėnės and Jūratė and Kastytis, fostering a sense of identity while integrating into American society. The community continues to grow, with many descendants actively participating in both Lithuanian and American cultural events.
