There are two main species of lions: the African lion and the Asiatic lion. The African lion is the most well-known and can be found in various habitats across sub-Saharan Africa. They are social animals, living in groups called prides, which consist of related females, their cubs, and a few males.
The Asiatic lion, on the other hand, is a smaller population found only in the Gir Forest National Park in India. These lions are slightly different in appearance, with a less developed mane and a distinctive fold of skin along their bellies. Both species face threats from habitat loss and poaching.
