Lin Biao
Lin Biao was a prominent Chinese military leader and politician during the People's Republic of China. Born in 1907, he played a crucial role in the Chinese Communist Party's rise to power and became a key figure in the Cultural Revolution. Lin was known for his close association with Mao Zedong and was appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Communist Party.
In 1971, Lin Biao's political career ended dramatically when he allegedly attempted a coup against Mao Zedong. Following the failed coup, he fled to the Soviet Union but died in a plane crash under mysterious circumstances. His legacy remains controversial in Chinese history.
