Li Peng
Li Peng was a Chinese politician who served as the Premier of the People's Republic of China from 1988 to 1998. He was a member of the Chinese Communist Party and played a significant role in the country's economic policies during his tenure. Li is often associated with the government's response to the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, where he supported the declaration of martial law.
Born on November 20, 1928, in Chengdu, Sichuan province, Li Peng was educated in engineering and later held various positions within the government. After his time as Premier, he continued to be active in politics, serving as the Chairman of the National People's Congress until 2003. He passed away on July 22, 2023.
