Levite
A Levite is a member of the tribe of Levi, one of the twelve tribes of Israel in the Hebrew Bible. The Levites were set apart for religious duties and responsibilities, including serving in the Tabernacle and later the Temple in Jerusalem. They assisted the priests, who were also from the tribe of Levi, in various rituals and sacrifices.
Levites did not receive a specific territory like the other tribes; instead, they were given cities to live in and were supported by the tithes of the other Israelites. Their role was crucial in maintaining the spiritual life of the community and ensuring the proper worship of God.
