Level 2 Automation
Level 2 Automation, also known as partial automation, refers to systems that can control both steering and acceleration/deceleration simultaneously. In this level, the driver must remain engaged and monitor the environment, as the system can only assist with specific tasks, such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance.
Vehicles equipped with Level 2 Automation, like those from Tesla and General Motors, can perform certain driving functions but require the driver to be ready to take over at any moment. This level enhances convenience but does not eliminate the need for human oversight.
