Lesser Gibbon
The Lesser Gibbon, also known as the Hylobates, is a small primate found in the forests of Southeast Asia. These agile creatures are known for their long arms and ability to swing through trees, a behavior called brachiation. They typically weigh between 5 to 15 pounds and have a distinctive vocalization, often referred to as "songs," which they use to communicate with each other.
Lesser Gibbons are social animals, usually living in small family groups. They primarily feed on fruits, leaves, and insects, playing a vital role in their ecosystem by helping to disperse seeds. Their habitat is threatened by deforestation and habitat loss, making conservation efforts important for their survival.
