Lepidosiren
Lepidosiren is a genus of freshwater fish known as the African lungfish. It is primarily found in the rivers and swamps of Africa, particularly in countries like Nigeria and Zambia. This fish is notable for its ability to breathe air, thanks to its lungs, which allow it to survive in oxygen-poor waters.
Lepidosiren has a long, eel-like body and can grow up to 1.2 meters (about 4 feet) in length. It has a unique life cycle, often entering a state of dormancy during dry seasons by burrowing into mud and forming a protective cocoon. This adaptation helps it endure harsh environmental conditions.
