Leopold IV, Duke of Austria
Leopold IV, Duke of Austria, was a member of the House of Babenberg, born in 1157. He ruled as Duke from 1177 until his death in 1194. Leopold IV is known for his efforts to strengthen the power of the duchy and for his involvement in the political affairs of the Holy Roman Empire. He was also a supporter of the Crusades.
Leopold IV was the son of Henry II, Duke of Austria and Theodora of Byzantium. His reign was marked by conflicts with neighboring territories and the expansion of Austrian influence. He was succeeded by his son, Frederick I, Duke of Austria.
