Legal Malpractice
Legal malpractice occurs when a lawyer fails to perform their duties competently, resulting in harm to a client. This can include mistakes like missing deadlines, providing incorrect legal advice, or failing to represent a client adequately in court. Clients may seek compensation for damages caused by such negligence.
To prove legal malpractice, a client must show that the lawyer had a duty to act in their best interest, breached that duty, and caused harm as a result. This often involves demonstrating that the outcome of a case would have been different if the lawyer had acted properly.
