Left Ovary
The left ovary is one of two small, almond-shaped organs located in the female reproductive system. It is situated on the left side of the uterus and plays a crucial role in producing eggs, or ova, as well as hormones like estrogen and progesterone. These hormones are essential for regulating the menstrual cycle and supporting pregnancy.
Each month, during the menstrual cycle, the left ovary may release an egg in a process called ovulation. If the egg is fertilized by sperm, it can lead to pregnancy. If not, the egg is absorbed by the body or shed during menstruation, which is part of the normal reproductive process.
