Lee Sun-shin
Lee Sun-shin was a prominent Korean naval commander during the late 16th century, known for his leadership in the Imjin War against Japanese invasions. He is celebrated for his innovative tactics and the development of the turtle ship, an early ironclad warship that played a crucial role in naval battles.
Born in 1545, Lee Sun-shin rose through the ranks of the military and became a symbol of resistance and patriotism in Korea. His most famous victory came at the Battle of Myeongnyang in 1597, where he defeated a much larger Japanese fleet, solidifying his legacy as one of Korea's greatest heroes.
