Imjin War
The Imjin War, also known as the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598), was a series of military conflicts initiated by the Toyotomi Hideyoshi of Japan. The war aimed to conquer Korea and use it as a pathway to invade China. The conflict saw the involvement of Korean forces, aided by the Ming Dynasty of China, in a struggle to repel the Japanese invaders.
The war is notable for the use of innovative naval tactics, particularly by the Korean admiral Yi Sun-sin, who employed the famous turtle ship. Despite initial Japanese successes, the combined efforts of Korean and Chinese forces eventually led to the withdrawal of Japanese troops, marking a significant moment in East Asian history.
