Leaf Monkeys
Leaf monkeys, also known as colobines, are a group of primates found primarily in the forests of Southeast Asia. They are characterized by their long limbs, slender bodies, and distinctive coloration, which often includes shades of green, brown, and black. These monkeys primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and flowers, which is reflected in their specialized digestive systems.
Leaf monkeys are social animals, typically living in groups that can range from a few individuals to over twenty. They communicate through a variety of vocalizations and body language. Some well-known species include the spectacled langur and the black leaf monkey, both of which play important roles in their ecosystems by aiding in seed dispersal.
