Laocoön
Laocoön is a famous ancient sculpture that depicts a Trojan priest and his two sons being attacked by sea serpents. This dramatic scene illustrates the moment when Laocoön warns the Trojans against bringing the Trojan Horse into their city, only to be punished by the gods for his foresight.
The sculpture is believed to have been created in the 1st century BCE and is attributed to the artists Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. It is celebrated for its intricate details and emotional intensity, showcasing the struggle and agony of Laocoön and his sons. Today, it is housed in the Vatican Museums.
