Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg
The Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg was a small German state that existed from the 17th to the 19th century. It was part of the larger territory of the Landgraviate of Hesse and was located in what is now the state of Hesse in Germany. The landgraviate was established in 1622 and was ruled by the House of Hesse.
In 1866, the Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg was dissolved when it was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia during the Austro-Prussian War. The territory was then integrated into the newly formed province of Hesse-Nassau. Despite its relatively short existence, Hesse-Homburg played a role in the complex political landscape of German principalities during its time.
