Land Bridge
A "Land Bridge" refers to a natural land connection that allows the movement of species between two larger landmasses. This phenomenon often occurs during periods of lower sea levels, which expose land that is usually submerged. One of the most famous examples is the Bering Land Bridge, which connected Asia and North America during the last Ice Age.
Land bridges play a crucial role in the migration and evolution of species. They enable animals and plants to spread into new areas, leading to increased biodiversity. Over time, these connections can disappear due to rising sea levels, isolating populations and influencing their development.
