Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area
Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is a 170,000-acre region located between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley in western Kentucky and Tennessee. It offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, fishing, and wildlife watching. The area is home to diverse ecosystems, featuring forests, wetlands, and open fields.
Established in 1963, the recreation area is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Visitors can explore over 200 miles of trails and enjoy recreational facilities such as picnic areas and boat ramps. The area also includes the Land Between the Lakes Nature Station, which provides educational programs about local wildlife and conservation.
