Lan Xang Kingdom
The Lan Xang Kingdom, also known as the Kingdom of a Million Elephants, was a historical kingdom in Southeast Asia that existed from the 14th to the 18th centuries. It was located in what is now Laos and was founded by Fa Ngum, who united various tribes and established a strong centralized state. The kingdom became a significant cultural and political center in the region, known for its wealth and trade.
Lan Xang was notable for its rich Buddhist heritage, with many temples and monasteries built during its reign. The kingdom eventually split into three smaller states: Luang Prabang, Vientiane, and Champasak, which led to its decline. Despite this, the legacy of Lan Xang continues to influence Laos today.
