Lake Managua is a large freshwater lake located in Nicaragua, near its capital city, Managua. It covers an area of approximately 1,040 square kilometers and is one of the largest lakes in Central America. The lake is surrounded by volcanic mountains and is fed by several rivers, including the Tipitapa River.
The lake plays a significant role in the local ecosystem and economy. It supports various wildlife, including birds and fish, and is a source of water for nearby communities. However, Lake Managua has faced environmental challenges, such as pollution and changes in water levels, impacting its health and the surrounding areas.
