Lake Balkhash
Lake Balkhash is a large lake located in southeastern Kazakhstan. It is unique because it has both freshwater and saltwater sections, divided by a narrow strait. The lake covers an area of about 106,000 square kilometers, making it one of the largest lakes in Asia.
The lake is fed by several rivers, including the Ili River, and is an important habitat for various fish species. It supports local fishing industries and provides water for nearby communities. However, Lake Balkhash faces environmental challenges, including water level fluctuations and pollution.
