Laggan Locks
Laggan Locks is a series of locks located on the Caledonian Canal in the Scottish Highlands. They are situated near the village of Laggan and are part of a waterway that connects Loch Ness to Loch Oich. The locks help boats navigate the elevation changes along the canal, allowing for smoother travel through this scenic region.
The Laggan Locks consist of a total of five locks, which raise and lower vessels over a height of about 50 feet. This engineering marvel was completed in the early 19th century and remains an important part of Scotland's maritime heritage. The area is popular for boating, fishing, and enjoying the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.
