Lady Gregory
Lady Gregory, born Isabella Augusta Persse in 1852, was an influential Irish playwright, folklorist, and theatre manager. She played a key role in the Irish Literary Revival, promoting Irish culture and literature. Alongside her friend W.B. Yeats, she co-founded the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, which became a central hub for Irish drama.
Lady Gregory is best known for her plays, such as The Rising of the Moon and The Gaol Gate, which often drew on Irish folklore and history. Her work helped to elevate the status of Irish theatre and inspired future generations of writers and artists. She passed away in 1932.
