Lady Byng Trophy
The Lady Byng Trophy is an annual award in the NHL given to the player who best exemplifies sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability. Established in 1925, it honors Lady Byng of Vimy, a former governor-general of Canada, who was known for her charitable work and love of hockey.
The trophy is awarded based on votes from the Professional Hockey Writers' Association at the end of each season. Players who receive the award are recognized not only for their skill on the ice but also for their respectful behavior towards opponents and officials.
