Lady Bird Johnson, born Claudia Alta Taylor on December 22, 1912, was the First Lady of the United States from 1963 to 1969, during the presidency of her husband, Lyndon B. Johnson. She was known for her advocacy of beautification projects and environmental conservation, which led to the establishment of the Highway Beautification Act in 1965.
In addition to her environmental efforts, Lady Bird was a strong supporter of civil rights and education initiatives. After leaving the White House, she continued her work through the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Texas, promoting native plants and sustainable landscapes.
