Lacrimal Gland
The lacrimal gland is a small, almond-shaped gland located in the upper outer part of each eye socket. Its primary function is to produce tears, which help to keep the surface of the eye moist and protect it from irritants. The tears also contain enzymes that help fight infections.
Tears produced by the lacrimal gland drain through small openings in the eyelids and into the nasal cavity. This process is essential for maintaining eye health and comfort. Dysfunction of the lacrimal gland can lead to dry eyes or excessive tearing, affecting vision and overall well-being.
