Lackawanna Cut-Off
The Lackawanna Cut-Off is a rail line in New Jersey that was built to connect Scranton, Pennsylvania to New York City. Completed in the early 20th century, it was designed to provide a faster route for passengers and freight, significantly reducing travel time between these regions.
The line features notable engineering, including the Paulinskill Viaduct, one of the longest stone viaducts in the United States. Although passenger service on the Cut-Off ceased in the 1980s, efforts have been made to restore it for modern use, aiming to improve regional transportation and connectivity.
