LNG Terminals
LNG terminals are facilities designed for the import, export, and storage of liquefied natural gas (LNG). They play a crucial role in the global energy market by enabling the transportation of natural gas in a liquid state, which is more efficient for shipping. These terminals typically consist of large storage tanks, regasification units, and loading docks for ships.
At an LNG terminal, natural gas is cooled to a temperature of about -162 degrees Celsius, turning it into a liquid. This process reduces its volume significantly, making it easier to transport over long distances. Once it reaches its destination, the LNG is converted back into gas for distribution through pipelines to homes and businesses.
