LGBTQ+ History Month
LGBTQ+ History Month is celebrated each October in the United States and the United Kingdom to recognize and honor the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. This month highlights the history, achievements, and struggles of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer, as well as other sexual and gender minorities.
The observance began in the U.S. in 1994, initiated by activist Rodney Wilson. It aims to educate the public about LGBTQ+ history and promote awareness of the ongoing fight for equality and acceptance. Various events, including educational programs and celebrations, take place throughout the month.
