Homonym: queer (Strange)
The term "queer" is an umbrella label used to describe a range of sexual orientations and gender identities that fall outside of traditional heterosexual and cisgender norms. It encompasses individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, and more. Originally used as a derogatory term, "queer" has been reclaimed by many in the LGBTQ+ community as a positive expression of identity and diversity.
In addition to sexual orientation and gender identity, "queer" can also refer to a broader critique of societal norms and expectations regarding sexuality and gender. This perspective encourages questioning and challenging conventional ideas about identity, relationships, and societal roles, promoting inclusivity and acceptance for all individuals.
