Lóránd Eötvös
Lóránd Eötvös was a Hungarian physicist and geophysicist born on July 27, 1848. He is best known for his work in the field of gravitation and for developing the Eötvös experiment, which measured the gravitational force and its variations. Eötvös also contributed to the understanding of surface tension and capillarity.
In addition to his scientific achievements, Eötvös served as a professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and was involved in politics. He was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and played a significant role in promoting scientific research in Hungary. Eötvös passed away on April 8, 1919.
