Lépine's Test
Lépine's Test is a clinical examination used to assess for the presence of an inguinal hernia. During the test, the patient is asked to cough while the examiner palpates the groin area. A positive result occurs if a bulge is felt in the inguinal canal, indicating that tissue or organs may be protruding through the abdominal wall.
This test is named after the French surgeon Lépine, who contributed to the understanding of hernias. It is a simple and effective method for diagnosing inguinal hernias, which can lead to complications if left untreated.
