Kristallnacht
Kristallnacht, also known as the Night of Broken Glass, occurred on November 9-10, 1938, in Nazi Germany. It was a coordinated attack against Jewish people and their properties, resulting in the destruction of synagogues, businesses, and homes. The violence was sparked by the assassination of a German diplomat by a Jewish teenager in Paris, which the Nazis used as a pretext for the attacks.
During this event, approximately 30,000 Jewish men were arrested and sent to concentration camps. The name "Kristallnacht" refers to the shards of broken glass that littered the streets after the violence. This event marked a significant escalation in the Nazi regime's persecution of Jews, leading to further atrocities in the years that followed.
