Krewe of Rex
The Krewe of Rex is one of the oldest and most famous Mardi Gras krewes in New Orleans, founded in 1872. It is known for its elaborate parades and the iconic theme of "The King of Carnival." Each year, the krewe selects a monarch, known as the Rex, who leads the festivities and symbolizes the spirit of Mardi Gras.
Rex is also recognized for its signature colors of purple, green, and gold, which represent justice, faith, and power, respectively. The krewe's parades feature beautifully decorated floats and throws, including beads and trinkets, delighting spectators along the route.
