Krakatoa volcano
The Krakatoa volcano is located in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. It is famous for its catastrophic eruption in 1883, which was one of the most violent volcanic events in recorded history. The eruption caused massive tsunamis and resulted in significant loss of life, as well as global climate effects due to the ash released into the atmosphere.
Krakatoa is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area known for its high volcanic activity. The volcano has since erupted several times, with the most recent significant activity occurring in 2018. Today, the island of Anak Krakatau, which means "Child of Krakatoa," continues to grow as a result of ongoing volcanic activity.
