Kragujevac Massacre
The Kragujevac Massacre refers to the mass execution of civilians by German forces during World War II in the city of Kragujevac, located in present-day Serbia. In October 1941, in retaliation for partisan attacks, the Germans killed approximately 2,300 people, including men, women, and children. This event is one of the largest mass killings in occupied Yugoslavia during the war.
The massacre was part of a broader campaign of repression against the local population and aimed to instill fear. It is remembered as a significant atrocity in the history of the region and is commemorated annually to honor the victims and raise awareness about the consequences of war.
