Kowloon City
Kowloon City, often referred to as Kowloon Walled City, was a unique urban settlement in Hong Kong. Originally a military outpost, it became a densely populated area known for its high-rise buildings and lack of formal governance. At its peak, it housed around 30,000 to 50,000 residents in a small area, leading to a complex network of homes, businesses, and services.
The Walled City was famous for its maze-like structure and vibrant community life. In 1993, the Hong Kong government demolished it, transforming the site into Kowloon Walled City Park, which now features gardens, historical relics, and a peaceful environment for visitors.
