Kotor Fortress
Kotor Fortress, also known as San Giovanni Fortress, is a historic fortification located in Kotor, Montenegro. It was built in the 9th century and later expanded by the Venetians in the 15th century. The fortress sits on a hill overlooking the Bay of Kotor and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
The fortress is part of the Kotor UNESCO World Heritage Site and features a series of walls and towers that stretch over 4 kilometers. Visitors can hike the steep path to the fortress, which includes around 1,350 steps, making it a popular destination for tourists seeking both history and breathtaking scenery.
