Kotmale Dam
The Kotmale Dam is a significant hydroelectric project located in the Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka. Completed in 1985, it is designed to generate electricity and manage water resources in the region. The dam creates the Kotmale Reservoir, which plays a crucial role in irrigation and flood control.
The dam has a height of 110 meters and a length of 1,500 meters, making it one of the tallest in the country. It is part of the Kotmale Hydropower Plant, which contributes to the national grid, providing renewable energy to support the growing demand in Sri Lanka.
