Kosovo Liberation Army
The Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) was a paramilitary organization formed in the late 1990s during the conflict in Kosovo. It aimed to secure the independence of Kosovo from Serbia and was involved in armed resistance against Serbian forces. The KLA gained international attention for its role in the Kosovo War, which lasted from 1998 to 1999.
The KLA was initially composed of ethnic Albanian volunteers and operated in secrecy. As the conflict escalated, it received support from various international entities, leading to NATO's intervention in 1999. Following the war, the KLA transitioned into a political party, contributing to Kosovo's eventual declaration of independence in 2008.
