Koresh
Koresh refers to David Koresh, the leader of the Branch Davidians, a religious sect that emerged from the Seventh-day Adventist movement. He claimed to be a prophet and believed he was the final messenger of God. Under his leadership, the group settled in Waco, Texas, where they built a compound known as the Mount Carmel Center.
In 1993, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) attempted to raid the compound, leading to a 51-day standoff between the Branch Davidians and law enforcement. The standoff ended tragically with a fire that consumed the compound, resulting in the deaths of many members, including Koresh.
