Korean shamanism
Korean shamanism, known as Muism, is a traditional spiritual practice in Korea that involves rituals and ceremonies to connect with the spirit world. Practitioners, called shamans or mudang, serve as intermediaries between humans and spirits, seeking guidance, healing, and protection.
The practice often includes music, dance, and offerings to appease deities and ancestral spirits. Rituals can vary widely, reflecting local beliefs and customs, and are often performed during significant life events, such as births, weddings, and funerals. Korean shamanism remains an important aspect of cultural identity in modern Korea.
