Komitas
Komitas was an Armenian priest, musicologist, and composer, born in 1869. He is often regarded as the founder of modern Armenian classical music. His work focused on collecting and preserving traditional Armenian folk songs, which he arranged for choirs and orchestras.
In addition to his musical contributions, Komitas played a significant role in the cultural revival of Armenia during the early 20th century. He was deeply affected by the Armenian Genocide, which led to his mental health struggles. Despite this, his legacy endures through his compositions and the preservation of Armenian musical heritage.
