Kolubara Basin
The Kolubara Basin is a significant coal mining region located in Serbia. It is known for its large reserves of lignite, a type of coal that is primarily used for electricity generation. The basin plays a crucial role in the country's energy production, supplying fuel to several thermal power plants.
The basin covers an area of approximately 600 square kilometers and is situated near the town of Lazarevac. Mining activities in the Kolubara Basin are managed by the state-owned company EPS (Electric Power Industry of Serbia), which ensures the extraction and supply of coal to meet national energy demands.
