Kingston Penitentiary
Kingston Penitentiary was a maximum-security prison located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Opened in 1835, it was one of the oldest prisons in North America, designed to house male inmates. The facility was known for its imposing stone structure and strict discipline, housing many notorious criminals over the years.
The prison closed in 2013 after more than 178 years of operation. Following its closure, Kingston Penitentiary became a site of interest for historical tours and urban exploration, allowing visitors to learn about its history and the lives of those who were incarcerated there.
