Kingdom of Wu
The Kingdom of Wu was one of the three major states during the Three Kingdoms period in ancient China, which lasted from 220 to 280 AD. It was located in the southeastern region, primarily in what is now Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Wu was known for its strong naval power and strategic location along the Yangtze River, which facilitated trade and military movements.
Founded by Sun Quan, the Kingdom of Wu played a significant role in the power struggles against the other two kingdoms, Wei and Shu. Wu's notable military leader, Zhou Yu, was instrumental in several key battles, including the famous Battle of Red Cliffs. The kingdom eventually fell to the Jin Dynasty in 280 AD, marking the end of the Three Kingdoms era.
